While diverse groups of research develop the ideas and frameworks programmable materials, it becomes necessary for the design field to follow up such technical developments and speculate on the application, protocols of communication and deployments of such systems. Situated between a theoretical approach and a computational method, Trello-Ponic is an attempt to combine notions of a discrete modular programmable materiality that is designed and programed via gaming platforms. This project describes the background and development of the tectonic system, its relations to data structures and protocols of communication, and a speculation of what such performance could contribute to the field of architecture and the built environment.
